Julie Moore began her quest for all things natural back in the late 80's when she got fed up with giving herself allergy shots. She walked into a health food store, bought some books and a pair of Birkenstocks and never looked back. After receiving her degree in Art History from Florida State University and studying in Florence, Italy she studied macrobiotic cooking and eventually ended up attending The Natural Gourmet Institute for Food and Health in NYC in 1993, where the emphasis was on whole foods/vegan cooking without processed ingredients. She started and ran her own business, The Sacred Beet, in Dayton, Ohio in '94-'95, where she cooked 5 course 5 Element based vegan meals out of her home using ingredients from local, sustainable organic farms. From there Julie became the head chef of Cafe Voltaire, a vegetarian cafe with an underground theater in Chicago. All the while she was practicing Yoga, enhancing her Spiritual life, receiving Shiatsu, and focusing on natural methods of healing.
After starting a family, Julie began attending the Ohashiatsu Institute in Evanston, Il. in 1998. Already familiar with the 5 Element Theory of Chinese medicine, studying Shiatsu was a natural transition and the next logical step. Julie now has over 2 decades in the Healing Arts as the owner of Moore Than Massage. She has since added Reiki to her repertoire by completing her Reiki training with the world renowned Reiki Master, Frans Stiene of the International House of Reiki. She is a certified and insured member of American Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) and has practiced in the Dayton area as well as Columbus and Cincinnati.
Another quality that makes Julie unique, but completely in line with her course in life, is that she is a survivor of a bi-polar diagnosis. By not adhering to society's stigma of being a victim of mental illness and doing her own research in quantum physics, the power of intention, modern scientific brain research, the practice of mindfulness and the natural progression of her non-dualistic spiritual practices, she is in full recovery where medication is and always will be a thing of the past. This quality gives her amazing insight into her specialty of emotional healing.
Julie's deep understanding of the human condition, her respect and compassion for all sentient beings, and her commitment to Christ consciousness are just several of her innate qualities as a healer. Her work combining Shiatsu and Reiki are just the organic vehicles for her to manifest her intuitive and empathic skills. She has the capacity to sense what lies beyond our illnesses, what lurks in the shadows of her client's subconscious and gently sheds light on these shadows at a pace that is comfortable for her clients. Julie's work as a healer is primarily about nurturing the mind-body connection to well being; but when it comes down to it, she is merely the facilitator enhancing, cajoling, enticing and teaching her clients that the real healing comes from within themselves. In return, Julie is the receiver as much as she is the giver.
